The Value Valve is a smart, heat-activated device that stops water from being wasted while you wait for hot water at your tap. Normally, when you open a hot tap, cold water runs down the drain until the hot water arrives. The Value Valve changes that — instead of letting that cool water go to waste, it redirects it back to your geyser or storage tank to be reused. Once the water reaches the right temperature, the valve automatically opens and hot water flows to your tap as normal.
Every time you open a hot tap, you waste water while waiting for it to heat up. In a typical home, that can be 6 to 8 litres of water lost every single minute. The Value Valve catches that water before it goes down the drain and sends it back into your system to be reused. Over days, weeks, and months, those litres add up to a very significant saving.
Instead of going down the drain, the cool water is redirected back to your storage tank. This means the water stays in your system and gets heated again — nothing is wasted. It is like giving that water a second chance instead of throwing it away.
Yes, absolutely. You will not notice any difference in how you use your hot water. The Value Valve works quietly in the background. When you open your hot tap, it manages the cool water automatically, and by the time hot water is ready, it flows through to you just as it always has — except now, no water has been wasted in the process.
This depends on how many people are in your household and how often hot water taps are used. However, because the average home loses 6 to 8 litres per minute while waiting for hot water — across multiple taps, multiple times a day — the monthly saving can be in the hundreds of litres. For larger families or homes with multiple bathrooms, the saving is even greater.
Yes. Because you are using less water overall, your municipal water bill goes down
It is completely automatic. The Value Valve uses smart heat-activated technology — it responds to water temperature on its own, with no buttons, switches, or apps needed. You simply install it and it does its job every single day without you having to think about it.
Yes, it is completely safe. The Value Valve is designed to work within your existing plumbing system without interfering with your water quality or pressure. It does not use any chemicals and does not require electricity to operate. It is a passive, reliable device built for everyday
household use.
Absolutely — in fact, this is exactly where the Value Valve makes the biggest difference. In areas with water restrictions, droughts, or unreliable municipal supply, every litre counts. The Value Valve ensures that none of your water is wasted unnecessarily, helping your household stretch its water supply much further.
The Value Valve is designed for anyone who uses hot water at home or at work — which is essentially everyone. It is especially valuable for households that are conscious about water costs, families wanting to reduce their environmental impact, and anyone living in an area where water is scarce or expensive.
Yes. While it works perfectly in a standard home, the Value Valve is also well-suited for commercial properties such as offices, guesthouses, salons, restaurants, and any business that uses hot water regularly. The more hot water a property uses, the greater the saving.
Yes. The Value Valve can be implemented in sectional title complexes, estates, and apartment buildings. In these settings the water savings are multiplied significantly because hot water is being used across many units. This makes it an attractive option for body corporates and property managers looking to reduce shared utility costs.
The Value Valve is currently launching in South Africa by end August. You can register your interest on our website to be among the first to be notified when it becomes available in your area. We are also actively expanding across Africa, so if you are in another African country, keep an eye on our African Launch page for updates.
No, not at all. You do not need to be a plumber or have any technical background to become a Value Valve licence holder. If you are an entrepreneur, a business-minded individual, or someone who simply believes in the product and wants to sell it in your area, you qualify. We welcome people from all backgrounds.
We take care of the back office so you can focus on selling. This includes invoicing, logistics, and marketing support. We also invite licence holders to relevant trade shows and expos, giving you the opportunity to showcase the product, meet potential clients, and grow your network.
As a licence holder, you sell the Value Valve product within your designated area or country. You are essentially running your own business backed by an established product, a proven system, and full support from the Value Valve team. You do not need to worry about the operational side — we handle that so you can focus on building your customer base.
Yes. Licence holders are given rights to operate within a defined area or market. This protects your business by ensuring you are not competing with other licence holders in the same region. It also allows us to manage supply, logistics, and marketing support effectively for each territory.
The Value Valve is installed on each tap that uses hot water. The Value Valve is installed at each tap, before the water reaches the tap, where it separates the cool water and sends it back to the storage tank rather than down the drain.
A small circulation pump is used to move the cool water from the storage tank back to the geyser to be reheated. The pump works together with the Value Valve to create a smooth, continuous loop that keeps water moving through the system efficiently.
Yes. The Value Valve is designed to be installed by any qualified plumber. No specialist training is required. The installation works with standard 22mm plumbing systems, which are common in most South African homes and buildings.
No major changes are needed. The Value Valve is designed to integrate into your existing plumbing system with minimal disruption. Your plumber will connect it to your current pipes without needing to redo your whole system.
It can absolutely be installed in an existing home. You do not need to be building a new house to benefit from the Value Valve. Whether your home is brand new or decades old, as long as you have a standard plumbing system, it can be fitted without any major renovation.
No. The Value Valve does not reduce or interfere with your water pressure. Your hot water will flow with the same pressure you are used to. The valve simply manages the direction of cool water in the background — your day-to-day experience at the tap stays exactly the same.
Yes. The Value Valve is compatible with standard electric geysers used in most South African homes. It works with your geyser's existing setup without needing any modifications to the geyser itself.
Yes, the Value Valve is compatible with solar geyser systems as well. Whether you use a conventional electric geyser or a solar-powered one, the principle is the same — cool water is redirected back to be reheated rather than wasted.
Yes. The Value Valve works with both municipal water supply and private tank or rainwater harvesting systems. This makes it especially useful in areas where water supply is unreliable and every drop of stored water is precious.
The Value Valve is made and built using 30% Glass-Filled Polypropylene, a material trusted in high-performance applications. Why this material matters: High tensile strength – built to handle real pressure, superior heat resistance – performs in hot & cold environments, dimensional stability – keeps its shape under stress, creep resistance – no stretching, no leaks over time, corrosion resistance – won’t rust like metal. Result: Long-term durability under constant pressure.
Yes. The Value Valve is built to last. It is designed as a permanent part of your plumbing system, not a temporary fix. With correct installation and occasional basic checks, it should serve your home reliably for many years.
No. The Value Valve itself does not use electricity. It is heat-activated, meaning it responds automatically to water temperature without needing any power. The only electrical component in the system is the small circulation pump, which uses minimal energy.
If the pump fails, the Value Valve system will still continue to capture and store the water that would normally be wasted down the drain. The only difference is that the stored water will not automatically be pumped back into your home’s water system. However, the water is still safely collected in your storage unit and can be manually used until the pump is repaired or replaced. So even in the unlikely event of a pump failure, you don’t lose the water – you simply access it manually.
The Value Valve require only the DIY replacement of the Value Core every 12-24 months. The Value Valve is designed to be largely maintenance-free. Because it has no moving electronic parts and operates passively using heat, there is very little that can go wrong with regular use.
In normal household use, clogging is not a common issue. If your water supply carries a lot of sediment or debris, it is worth having a basic filter on your incoming water line — but this is good practice for any plumbing system, not just when using the Value Valve.
Yes. Because the Value Valve works with standard 22mm plumbing, any qualified plumber can remove, repair, or replace it without difficulty. You do not need a specialist or any special equipment.
